Thanks for educating us. I wish I knew this before I had Bells Palsey. I woke up and got scared thinking I may have had a stroke. I've had it twice. Once on the left and once on the right.

I acquired a sort of Bell's palsy from a botched surgery on a parotid tumor. They tried to claim that surgery absolutely had nothing to do with it. Thankfully, after 4 months, all but 5% of my facial strength came back. I've had complications and 2 more surgeries since then, but I really wish I was told this info in the 2000s, because every time I went to the ER they did the stroke assessment, and when it came back negative, I'd have to remind them that I wasn't in the ER for a stroke scare.

When my daughter was six years old, she came down with bells palsy, and that was followed by a severe rash and illness of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis for which she was hospitalized.

Dr., how long does Bell's' Palsy last? Besides your eyebrow and forehead, is the eye affected? Can a person affected, have a total recovery- so he or she's face returns to normal tone etc. ? Thank you for your continued commitment to educating us with medical knowledge.
