According to Jerry D Gray, a former US Air Force officer turned CNBC Asia journalist, the first fact is that for the first 14 months of the tragedy, US President George W Bush did not allow an investigation into the events leading up to the 9/11 attacks. So this is where the confusion starts.
The second fact is that it was not until a year later, in November 2002, after increasing pressure from the families of the victims, that President George W Bush authorized the formation of the 9/11 Commission, known as the Kean Commission.
In fact, George W Bush only give about three million dollars to the 9/11 Commission to complete its extensive investigation. For comparison, the commission that investigated the crash of the space shuttle Columbia received fifty million dollars.
