This was a valuable public service. Knowing how tempered our excitement should be saves a lot of time.

Love this. Right to the point and covers everything we need to know. Saved me a lot of time sifting through hype. You are one of my most rock solid sources of info.

As usual, you're spot on with your assessment of the situation. It's a big step forward, but there's still a long way to go. Thanks for always being the voice of reason and sanity.

I want to thank you for always giving us fascinating, and highly important science stories. I wish we could as subscribers to your YouTube channel do something to support you and the invaluable work that you are doing. I am now 56 years old, and i wish that you could have been teaching me Physics when I was at school not that my science teachers weren't good but sadly for me the maths that my physics teacher was trying to teach me was more advanced than I was being taught in maths lessons. But thank you for keeping my interest in these subjects high. You are a national treasure in my opinion

I think we can fairly shave a good month off of that "15 years away" thing.
Only 14 years 11 months to go.

Thank You Professor David Kipping for again giving us the actual Facts, rather than just blindly following the hype. 🙏

I think the fact that anything over 1 is practically possible is exciting enough. It gives the impression that lab-controlled fusion isn't a snipe-hunt. And that is exciting when you think of the possibilities.

You know what sucks is that when I searched for this story on YT I had to scroll through tons of msm videos before I could get to the creators I actually care about.

All I know is I’ve been hearing “it’s just 20 years away” for 4 decades now

knowing something like this is possible is monumental. I had a great grandmother who was around when for the first flight at kitty hawk. to be hear in this time I feel the same as she did

I am truly excited about every break through in this field. That said I don't want anyone to tell me we are 20 to 30 years from a useful power to come from fusion. At this point l'd prefer to hear we are just a couple years away or 100 years away. We have been 20 or 30 for my entire 56 years on this planet. Someone change the number dammit.

It seems that this is more an argument against intelligent life than all life. Very thought provoking.

This just popped up in my recommend and my heart skipped a beat.... YOUTUBE YOU CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS TO ME. MY ENTIRE MENTAL HEALTH IS RIDING ON THE THREAD OF HOPE THAT SOMEONE CRACKS FUSION

IMO it is not a breakthrough, but a milestone. A breakthrough would be an outcome, that was unexpected and a game changer. In this case I'm fairly conviced, they were working hard for this result, which was part of the plan. So, milestone.

Did you know that the Holmdel Horn Antenna (microwave background radiation) is at risk being destroyed by land development?
Dr. Robert Wilson still lives there. Wouldn't it be a nice if you interviewed him about the significance of this national historic landmark and bring more attention to the petition to preserve it for the future?

With the difficulties I’ve heard about fusion which includes Tritium, it will only be a breakthrough if they are able to get the machine running for a long period of time (enough to energize a home). Until then, I will not keep my hopes up for this technology until they at least achieved that and when that happens, only then humanity will change drastically.
