You will need:
2 chicken breasts
For the bechamel,
4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp flour
4 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tbsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp nutmeg
For the pasta,
12 oz. Ziti pasta/ I used gluten free pasta
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup of Gruyère cheese or fontina cheese
Preparation:
Boil the chicken until tender or season with salt, pepper, you can also choose to roast at 400 degrees F until tender.
Place a generous amount of water in a deep pot, when it boils add 2 tbsp of salt and the pasta. Cook according to package instructions.
Make the béchamel sauce; melt the butter then add the flour and whisk together for a minute . Add the milk gradually whisking at all times. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
In a bowl or in the baking dish, start layering the chicken then drained pasta then the béchamel sauce. Top with Parmesan and Gruyère or use a melting cheese like fontina or mozzarella. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until golden bubbly and delicious.
