Has the cost of processing, packaging and transportaion of the fruit and veg icreased? What about manure, pesticides and other materials used in production? How about labour costs all along the chain of production? I'm not sayjng that supermarkets haven't gouged the customer a bit, I'm just saying there may be many factors that could be in play here.

A truck load of produce can get trucked from grower to market in Brisbane, then get trucked to Sydney market and then trucked back to a Brisbane before going to a distribution centre and then out to shops.

If they cut down on transport costs maybe they wouldn’t need to charge so much or pollute the planet quite so much.

Has minimum wage increased in 15 years? Has the cost of health care increased in 15 years? Has workmans comp insurance increased? How about unemployment insurance? Have utility costs increased in the last 15 years? Has Walmart ever shared their profits with anyone other than their shareholders?

ok how does it go from the farm to the store?
it gets shipped by other company, that needs to pay for shipping.
it needs to be stored in cooling sites so it can be distributed all year around, and not just in season.
it needs to be shipped to the stores themselves from these cooling sites.
all this costs energy, manpower and insurance. the bad energy management, reduction of manpower during covid and the costs of insurance increase the price it takes to get your carrot from the farm to the store hundreds of miles away. it's not just greed. supermarkets want to sell it lower than their competition to stay relevant. but prices have a lower limit. higher taxation, higher fuel price, higher electricity price and higher wages means the two pounds of apples will now cost a dollar more than it used to.

It's true! As a generational rancher and farmer, this is absolutely true, obviously the amount has risen; by about $0.76 by the lbs. That's it though.

where the hell is the money going because they’re talking about price increase of minimum wage that’s only in states like California, Hawaii, Washington you know the blue ones without common sense because they allow the housing market to be astronomical for no particular reason so if you go to the souththe price of food and housing is reasonable but it’s still gone up, so where the hell did the money go?
