Iā€™ve worked on an assembly line youā€™d be surprised what these big companies consider a ā€œfinished productā€šŸ˜‚

That's 100% accurate. I status = repair hold. I work in supplier quality at BVAP. I've worked with engineering through the past 6 launches. The PF41 program (Dart) was so bad, every car we produced for the first several months was on hold. The yard was full. We have a secondary storage facility across the street, that was full, we put more in 2 of the satellite plants in the area, and hundreds more at the airport. The issues were so numerous that teams of engineers came down from ctc. BVAP set up rows of picnic tables in repair hole to accommodate to all of them. Issues were pretty much constant through the entire program. I've been to Shap several times. I hope things get better. I hope we are able to run again soon. We been down for a couple years now. There are rumors.. but you probably know how that goes.

I work in repair at Chrysler, this is at every factory and even other car companies. Nothings perfect no matter what product it is. Job security at its best. And yes the ppl in those tents are non union mechanics. Iā€™m union and work only in the building.

Those white tents can be for that repair or any repairs really. When there was a hail storm here in Toledo Chrysler set up big tents to examine and repair the hail damage on the effected vehicles.

My 2006 dodge TRX has lasted longer then most friends I know with 2017 and up trucks. They are always having problems etc my truck is at 320,000 and running strong. Change out oil every month as king with other fluids. Have a powerstoke thatā€™s at 620,000 miles

Every single manufacturer has the same setup. I worked at the Mercedes plant in Alabama. You would be surprised at how many vehicles have to get major repairs before they can leave the plant. It ain't just Dodge, stop it......

I have 4 cars from the 2000s and all of them are close or past 200k. It's fair to say they may all last to 300k but you really do gotta rebuild them they don't just magically last. That being said rebuilding a car yourself from the 2000s is astronomically cheaper than new and will still last longer lol

Iā€™ve worked for 2 of the Big 3, both companies conduct business in similar fashion. Iā€™ve owned vehicles from the Big 3, take care of their customers in similar fashion. Back in the early 90s, my mother owned an ā€œentryā€ level Lexus and when it needed service an equivalent vehicle was brought by flatbed. When her vehicle was repaired, it was delivered by flatbed washed , gasā€™d up and in better condition than went it left!!! American dealership experiences like that donā€™t happen even if you own a top trim level.

Ford had the same problems in 98, I worked there and at 1 time they said 12 out of a 100 where shipable the rest had to be redone, they almost killed theirself because they pushed the new truck out that was not near ready for release.

They have that at Nissan too. They have all the rejects in one area and then they are repaired and go back through final inspection

I once work for an automotive interior plant. When the vehicle went through a refresh one year, the engineering department made the middle seat frames 3 inches too big.
Found the issue right before the ramp up of production. Had to bring in teams of people to remake frames and resew fabric.šŸ˜‚

Carlos Tavares came in and shoved every dollar he could find in his own pocket, fired every engineer worth his salt, ran off all the decent, knowledgeable, efficient staff and thought he could lay blame on the assembly workers of his company and of the company supplying parts for the downfall of Stellantis. He single handily took a profitable company and drove it into the ground in less than 3 years šŸ˜¢. To add insult to injury, he thinks heā€™s doin us, the American consumer a favor as if we donā€™t know what we need and want!!
