The paint color on the outside of the bowl makes it look smaller because it blends into the wall. I would sand it and do a light paint wash in the outside.

Lol, I think the cord area could be covered by a sort of elongated convex cone to extend the shape of the bowl upwards to where the cord appears. Yes also as you said, the lampshade is probably too small. Good project tho.

BTW...back in the day (long before your time) Papermasche objects (often masks) were made from newspapier torn or cut in strips and glued with adhesive. IMO the newspapier absorbs the adhesive better and lets the water in it evaporate eaiser. The toiletpapier more than likely got soaked and held the water too long. π
