"He is just beaming with pride."
- Little boy wasn't happy because he'd get rewarded later. He was happy because he knew he helped out. Well done, bud. You're already a man.

The reverse is true also. Criticism and with holding approval is devastating.

My girlfriend said this to me about her thought process the other day: "If i don't know what to do, I'll ask Arthur! Arthur will know, and he'll have the best idea, and everything will be rainbows and sunshine."

I had tears in my eyes, and she didn't think she said anything all that significant... to her, it was a simple truth. To me, it meant the absolute world.

I treasure this woman ❤

It's true, it starts early. When I was teaching 5 year olds, there was a boy who hit a girl. I told him that men use their strength to help people and to keep them safe. Next day his mum came in saying all evening he had taken off his shirt and was posing, showing his muscles so everyone would know he was there to help and keep them safe.

Something about this reminds me of that Nick Freitas line: "Ladies, it's not your responsibility to make good men. But if you choose to apply yourself to that task, you will be surprised by the power you wield".

Absolutely true. Lack of appreciation leads ti lack of concern, and care.

I’m raised by a single mom, I’ll never forget when I got old enough to start cutting grass. Being able to actually lift a stress off her shoulders and contribute in some way made me so happy when I was a kid. I didn’t even want her to say thank you, I just wanted to be not useless.

Ladies... you could literally talk to your man the same way and it would lift his heart no matter what age. Gratitude is man fuel.

YES YES YES! When my son started wanting to help me, I did NOT stop him. He is so happy when he knows he did good, amd now he often does thinhs around the house by himself or when he sees that I'm not feeling well, or if I forget something. The hugs and kisses that ensue are just immeasurable. He's such a great helper and an AMAZING little brother to his autistic older sister. He's just the greatest

Any boys' mom should read Calvin & Hobbs. It is far more accurate than people realize.

Men are happy when we help people we deem valuable. Nothing destroys that more than that person not being appreciative.

My mom RIP used to call me her He-Man when I would help bring in the groceries from the store. I was 6 or 7, and I didn't want to stop doing it. I didn't do it for material crap like a dog getting a snack. I was doing it for a piece of mind. That filled my heart with a certain kind of joy. I didn't know how to explain it until now

Yes, men are hardwired to help. How many women appreciate this in a legitimate way, and how many women appreciate it in a self- serving way?

To the legit appreciative ladies, God bless you.

To the women who take advantage of it, the ladies are getting fed up with the bad press, and men are done.

Thank you Emily for leading by example. Much love and appreciation to you and yours
