Tho a Baron in Scotland is called a "Lord of Parliament". And occasionally they spell Marquess as Marquis.

Baron or Baronet? Thats very different titels and Baronet is a lower titel different to the rights of baron and higher titels.

An interesting note. Noble titles originated specifically as beurocratic administrative roles in a direct continuation of roman positions. That is a lord was originally not a landholder, but simply a beurocrat responsible for that region. Eventually the carolingians started to grant these jobs as rewards to warriors who started to press for the jobs to become hereditary.
