This is one of the highest mileage weeks I’ve had in awhile. It was supposed to be 26-ish miles with the extra 11-ish miles on week 36. Stephen and I took our first stab at fast packing. This translates to wanting to backpack, but being nimble enough to jog if we feel like it. I was able to cut my backpack weight by approx 50%. Way more nimble and got good jogging in! But there were learnings on gear that worked and that didn’t! Lesson number one. Don’t test your luck and try to save weight by not bringing a rain fly! 🫠 Due to a nasty storm that rolled in, our 2 day adventure turned to one. Stephen Knoth and I packed up and managed to get back before it was too dark. It was fun to go all the way around 3FJ! The old summit trail was unlike anything I’ve ever seen! Very thick manzanita bushes for MILES!! So I got a solid 25 miles in one day wearing the Ultrafly. My body felt great! I’m impressed how good they feel for how trashed they are on the outside!
