Reverse twisting/lock twisting is a total waste of effort. All you need is two full wraps around the plain string posts, and one full wrap around the wound string posts. Or use locking tuners and take it down to just one wrap on every post. Been doing it for close to 40 years. Oh...the quality of your tuning machines does matter. Throw out the cheap junk tuners. Put on Gotohs at the very least. Schallers are best.

this is a great way to string a guitar. what youre doing is essentially locking the string in place, giving even more tuning stability
