Body builders back then looked awesome. Like they could actually move and run well, aesthetically balanced. Now they just look bloated, lumpy and unhealthy.

My favorite bodybuilder of all time Mike Mentzer ate a good amount of carbs. For his high intensity training career. Had the perfect body

Also the reason they were lower carbs back then is because thatā€™s how they stayed lean, they didnā€™t have all the cutting agents ā€œpedsā€ that bodybuilders have today, back then it was deca, dbol, primo and a few others and a lot of hard work and good diet and disciplineā€¦

I wish these shorts had a link somewhere to the interview itself.

So absent carbs, what exactly does replace glycogen?

They were all "jacked" with steroids. I had the pleasure of working out with the great Tom Terwilliger and Bob Paris. These guys all ate pasta by the pound while bulking up and went all protein a month before competition. I know this first hand. Not saying carbs are good for you. Just telling you what we/they did in the "golden era."

Whats about mobility, especially for harmstrings? I just got to my knees or little little below maybe. Would it make sense to imcrease my mobility?

Ive done the 70s bodybuilding diet in the past for couple years and it was awesome at the time. Monday thru saturday you eat clean foods (fat and protein) and sunday is a junk day. Training was awesome with that diet. Ofcourse i still love weight training.

Back then they had amazing physiques which they could "hold" for decades without kidney, heart and/or liver failure.

Heck, even the mobility was awesome. Arnold took on the Predator.

Meat is the most important part of our diet. Jesus said Have you any meat? He did not ask for a carrot. šŸ˜Š

It's rumoured that when Arnold first visited Vince Girondas gym that Vince walked up to him and said " get outa my gym you fat bastard"! Vince was very strict about his philosophy of excersie and diet. He was also the first to use supplements heavily on the guys he trained, lots of liver supplements!

With protein powder or without it?

Whats your thoughts on super high protein? For getting less fat while bulking and maybe better muscle growth? And on different phases, for example a phase of higher volume pump training which than translate into a heavy phase? Does this work better in general than just one training style all the time?
