Hi Aman, I'm not an instructor, you are, but what helped me learn controlling the car better was practicing basic controls inside a residential area during Kolkata's hot summer afternoons. My instructor was my driver.
I did it for sometime until I had gained some ability to control the car predictably, somewhat precisely, develop good judgement. Post which we ventured out into public roads. Maybe you should start with this, atleast for Gavin given he's your nephew.
