Fun fact, I work at a vet clinic and we use these splints in much smaller pieces for small companion animals. (Birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc)

I had an open fracture on my left arm back when I was in middle school, my my radius and ulna was badly fractured and pierced out of my skin. Strangely enough, I didnt feel the pain at first, maybe due to shock and adrenaline, but when I got into the hospital, the pain was so unbearable that I felt like it was being sawed off. Beared with that pain for almost a day before my arm was operated by an orthopedic surgeon. I'm now 21 and although my left arm recovered, I still vividly remember the pain that it made me experience. Stay safe everyone.

I was in a car accident and my girlfriend was driving. I remember hitting the guard rail then waking up to fireman at my door. I said let me get out your way so you can help my girlfriend. My leg stayed in the car as I tried to get out. 😂. My femur was broke... I screamed like a 6 yr old girl who just had her ice cream stolen from her 😂. ❤. An open fracture is classified when the skin is punctured by the bone 🦴
On such an injury you first have to sterile cover the wound. If it is bleeding very much you have to stop that 🩸
After that a aluminium splint is used to stabilize the fracture. By slightly bending the splint on its sides it is getting very stron
