I had a coworker tell me his dietician said weāre all gluten allergic. Bullshit. I asked him if she worked for his chiropractor and they were selling supplements to help with that. Yes and yes. If you are truly having issues with gluten it needs to be diagnosed by a gastroenterologist AFTER they test for it and have you do a tolerance type trial of taking it out of your diet and then adding it back in. Also an endoscopy can help diagnose due to changes in your intestinal lining. Dietician shouldnāt be selling supplements! Chiropractors only can treat musculoskeletal subluxations. They both need to stay in their lanes and not commit fraud!

CRAAP test from school for finding information for essays and projects works in real life.
Is the information Current? Seen plenty of people take a pamphlet from 1950ās and use it as a base for their claims.
Is it Relevant? Same pamphlet, making claims that it proves beyond what the pamphlet was for.
Does the person have Authority in the matter? A person who studies alligators is going to know if the animal youāre looking at is an alligator or crocodile better than someone whoās only see them in cartoons. The second person has no authority on the matter.
Is it Accurate ? Does it have actual sources? Iāve seen people throw up a bunch of studies as evidence but when you click on them theyāre irrelevant to the argument or doubled and the name link is different. Why? Because they werenāt expecting anyone to actually read the links and to just blindly trust them.
And finally whatās itās Purpose? Why do people say you should drink 8 glasses of water a day? Turns out it was a company that sells water. The purpose of their ad that looks like an article? To sell more water. Even though you donāt need it. Drink when youāre thirsty. Not some magical number.

Another way to rephrase a red flag is if suddenly some company is calling out an issue, making said thing a huge deal, when practically nobody across the globe, even centuries back, had been recorded as dieing from said thing. For instance, if gut cleanses, tea detoxes, food combining, etc. were so necessary, how did Medieval peasants, Native Americans, Inuits, super disadvantaged populations, ...or our species as a whole not die out already?

There was a video recently promoting the "husband stitch" and I wanted to vomit.
