For people with short legs, like ine, I teach not to take such a big back step and not so far from uke. In the execution of the throw, I tell my students to punch down towerd the mat and pull the sleeve arm as though they're trying to pull start an old puch lawn mower along with attacking uke's inner thigh with their right leg (in this case).. Usually tori's fist slides past ukie's jaw. If it soesn't, well ...bonus! It all seems to work well.

The problem is when you come to Washington DC and have to fight a big bro, they don’t fight looking for angles or best position, they punch as strong as a horse kick and you’ll end up on the ground. So it seems to me that there is no strategy, except, maybe jujitsu. Although you have to be very good when fighting those big bros….
