And before you @ me, let me tell you this:

Once you start doing this - it wont matter if the meal is pizza, Chinese food, or sushi, or any of the other major culprits that drive blood sugars crazy….

Food will never feel so daunting again.

Think about a basketball player when they go to shoot a free throw after a foul: they have a routine.

They dribble the ball a certain number of times.

They might spin it in their hand or stand at a certain spot on the line to make sure they are squared up correctly.

That helps them to get in the zone to successfully make the shot.

It’s the same thing with how you dose for meals.

This is something I see in patients all the time - treating different meals with different levels of significance.

They freak out when it comes to pizza or sushi, which then typically leads to more franticness and a worse blood sugar outcome vs. looking at all of it at face value, pulling the emotion away and doing what they know how to do.

Just do it like this:

#1. stop and assess what you are eating for carbs/fat/protein
#2. calculate what you need to dose, and how you’re going to do it.

That is IT. it doesn’t matter what the meal is - you are treating it all exactly the same.

This makes your life infinitely easier because it’s this ritual or routine that you’ve already established firmly and will allow you to have the most success with your blood sugars.

So whether it’s a bowl of fruit, a plate of chicken and rice, or two slices from your spot down the street, treat meals the same.
