Hi Richard. What about the common abbreviations etc. one might hear or need to send in a typical basic QSO? Listening in to QSOs, I have started to recognise some things like '73', 599 and 5NN as complete 'words' now rather than individual characters. Getting a few more like those in the bag might take a lot of the worry out of making that first contact. Thanks for the great series on CW. You have really encouraged me to keep at it after giving up many times in the past.

Thanks Richard. Hows about 3 separate vids on the Punctuation, Abbreviations and Prosigns which YOU use? 73, M0YZT

Thoughts on different methods? What type of key to learn on? Start slow and build speed or dive in? When to start trying to send (on or off air) and how to know how your doing? How to practice a QSO. So many one minute videos!

Not so much of a question, but I think it’s funny I inadvertently learned how to use a CW paddle backwards. I use the left for Dahs, and the right for dits. Anybody else use it this way?

I try not to use it, but I have CW decode on my KX2. I like to look at it to make sure I get the call sign correct. Do you think it’s a bad idea to be using some sort of decoder to get on the air if you can send letters and numbers?

Hi Richard, can you activate the CC Button for translate in German Language, so that you understand it better and it is spoken very quickly.

Hi Richard, way back in 1991 I took and passed my Morse test, since then I have developed rheumatoid arthritis. My hands and fingers being damaged and painful when used. I use large handled cutlery to eat my food, my question is do you think a different kind of key would help? For phone I use a foot switch to key up radio with boom mike, any ideas ? Thanks in advance, Mike

I can send fine at 25 but can't rx faster than 10-12 for more than a few minutes, after which smokes comes out my ears. If I enter a sprint, I'm ok for a short while but soon the dits and dahs loose all meaning.

I'm trying to use iambic paddles but I just can't get my fingers (thumb) coordinated. I think part of my problem is having to listen to and sync with the sidetone which, for me, is different to using a straight key. Apart from practice, practice, practice, any tips?

Another question for Richard, why are many of the stations on 40m calling ‘Test’ or ‘CQ Test’?
