When I lived in the rainforest at Malanda this was our summer song for a couple of months. At first it was deafening, but we got used to it. And it was so strange when it stopped, they would all stop at once, like it was orchestrated. Then on cue after a couple of minutes of silence, they would all start again. I used to take a photo each time I found one that was different to the last. Before I lived there, I thought all cicadas were green.

Merry Christmas! Enjoyed the videos. That sounds means summer to me. Like crickets and the night jars! We call them whippoorwill here. I love those sound and Bob white quail and crickets{outdoies only!}. It all takes me back to childhood.

A summer bummer here in Arizona. Depending on the tree types in our yards, it can be deafening and torture to the brain. Luckily I have moved to a different elevation, with different trees.😅😮
