The “snow line” is the distance from a star where it’s cold enough for water and other ices to stay frozen.
Inside this line, rocky planets like Earth tend to form.
Outside it, ices add more material, making it easier to build giant gas or ice planets.
In our Solar System, the snow line is around the space between Mars and Jupiter.
