I wish I knew this during my provincial stint. Got out the hole after a fight. Got put on a new unit. Kept sending request forms to the guards trying to get my hygiene products from my property. Dudes thought I was snitching only for nothing to happen and I started showing my request forms to others just to show there was nothing shady

East coast prisons are different. Most of the Guards know the inmates from childhood or are related to them. One Guard was an ex of mine from childhood and another i was in cadets with when i was like 12.

Well let me tell you a short personal story, except this is about the military, but it’s kinda equal to a ‘“snitching” story for you, when I was a young recruit in the Air Force (I’m your.age btw Matt), I reported potentially illegal activity twice. Once to protect myself because I didn’t want to risk get arrested for drugs, I knew there were in the tent/platoon where I was in, and in basic training, usually if one recruit gets caught with contraband, EVERYBODY in the platoon gets punished, not just the wrongdoers, and the the second incident was when I overheard a talk of racially motivated violence, you know the MTIs or the sergeants are NOT going to buy into the fact the any other recruits In the platoon didn’t know about any contraband or other violations, they know comrades tend to cover up or turn a blind eye for each other, but the price of that is the risk of getting equally punished, and I didn’t want to risk possibly even getting sent to the stockade, but in both cases, I was still treated with respect. I would also point out that I utilized the chain of command by first going to the my MTI. The second meeting with a commander took place at the officer’s club and I was given a coke. Greeting and love for you, stay safe.
