That snail is actually good for the aquarium too. If bladdersnails like these are overpopulating, it's because you are overfeeding and/or overstocking the tank. Their numbers will only grow as fas as their food source does. Overpopulation of common snails is a symptom of your failure as a fish keeper, not them causing a problem.

Friends, snails are incredibly beneficial, and I love them. The reason I mentioned that they are not welcoming in the aquarium hobby is that pest snails can invade everywhere if their population isn’t kept under control. For this reason, most hobbyists prefer not to have them in their tanks. That’s why I said it.

1000,000 days later the creatures have built tall cities and are attempting to break out of the jar

I love how you can take bits of nature home with you and watch it form its own ecosystem

Hydra look so neat. I wish they weren't total fry and shrimp killers in the aquarium.

I remember my science class in middle school where we did our pond water experiments, but what I remember the most is the smell! Beautiful nature that smells awful.

Why did I have a minor heart attack when I thought it said 1 man 1 jar while I was scrolling?

Lol I purposely keep all kinds of snails in my tanks. Trumpet snails, bladder snails, ramshorns, pond snails, etc. I've never had issues. I figured if I have multiple different kinds of creatures then it'll balance out and it worked for me. I also don't overfeed my tank. I have other critters too like scuds, isopods, and springtails.

Remember when we did stuff like this in Elementary School? Spouting seeds down the side of a jar to study development of root structure? Science was cool. And of course we had the space program that fascinated us to the point the regular activity stopped to watch the launches. We need a new space program and for science to become cool again.
