Yep, it’s the exact same fluid. Even the book will tell you to use atf+4. Newer vehicles use EPSF though, don’t mix them up.

Yes! The owners manual calls for ATF + 4 transmission fluid in your power steering reservoir on Dodge Chrysler and Ford vehicles. I just changed a power steering pump on 2001 Intrepid and it required ATF + 4 transmission fluid and the steering was considerably smoother with the proper fluid!

Seems odd that they would go so far as to label atf as power steering fluid. On my reservoir cap it says use transmission fluid.

That's all we used to use back in the day was transmission fluid and then they come out with putting it in a bottle and call it power steering fluid it's probably the same fluid

Not the same thing for all cars. Ok for Chrysler but don't go putting atf in a Honda. You'll destroy the rack

lol i just sold a PS service, looked at the parts billed and seen atf fluid, for a 2013 journey he confirmed that this is the same fluid technically… lol just asked today crazy timing
