This confuses atheists with nihilists

God is also not the source of an objective basis for morality. For one, every version of him/them is different with thousands of different systems of morality. It's pretty inconsistent. And even if you narrow it down to Christianity, there's two different books with vastly different systems of morality presented. Then over time those religions have absolutely changed their moral standards as well. Catholics endorsed slavery for a time, as that's biblical, but gave it up as the world moved forward.
And all of this sort of begs the question: who cares? Why is it so important to have this "objective" source of morality anyway?

One need not consider Y, or the basis of Y objective in order to find motivation to meditate on it.
