Emotions are natural, and temporary. Part of maturity is accepting all emotions, but not dwelling on, being ruled by, or obsessing over the negative emotions. Let them be like speed trains going through the station in your mind. The ones you want to hold onto, though, are the calm, peace, joy, and love ones. Let these have long stopovers, and revisit those moments frequently. But again, don’t be rule by or obsess over emotions. Logic and reason must reign in our decision making and relationships.
That’s what I understand. IMHO

Yes—children are growing up with the idea that unless everything is beautiful all the time and they are happy all the time that there is something wrong with them or their world; instead coping skills to deal with a less than perfect world and the days when life is not wonderful is necessary—to learn that tomorrow is another day and to have hope. The answer is not in chemicals or suicide ever.

As technology continues evolving at an increasing pace, our normal human reactions need to be managed rather than suppressed. Instead of labeling the range of human experience as neurodivergence and a problem to be solved, we would benefit from recognizing what we feel as cues just like hunger. Erich Fromm’s ‘The Sane Society’ covers this well. This movie is a great message 👍

My 11 year old daughter with adhd and anxiety was shaken by how hard Inside Out 2 hit home. There’s a lot to unpack but she was really surprised to see that these feelings are so frequently felt that everyone has experienced them in some way or another. It was also so important how anxiety was shown as trying to help and trying to protect, which it can do to some extent but if out of hand, can be all consuming and can make you lose who you are. Very smart and well made movie.
