I remember a crash in the 70’s in Alaska. There was a shipment of oranges and fruit that sat in the warehouse for too long but was loaded on the aircraft when the weather was finally ok. The toxic fumes overtook the pilots. So long ago.

Jet engines use a lubricant that literally turns into nerve gas when it overheats. The engines bleed this air into the aircraft to pressurize the cabin. Pilots have been permanently disabled from a single exposure. Passengers don't realize how dangerous this substance can be.

Ok. So I flew from LHR to Chicago (Delta). Almost the whole flight was coughing and 50 percent were wearing a 😷. The person sat next to me made sure he coughs all over my water & snack; he also made sure he doesn't cover his mouth and kept touching the side hand rest with his possible snort. I got up quietly & asked nicely if I could be moved. I did. 😊 People who think they're not well for e.g coughing or a runny nose should atleast wear a mask. If they have problems they can breath from the bottom of the mask so atleast the person sat next to you have an assurance that he'll be less affected.

I was on a 4.5 hour flight from Bangkok to Taipei when during take off, the girl sitting next to me threw up all over me. The smell was horrendous but the important thing was to get both of us cleaned up as best we could, and with the help of the flight crew, and alleviate the embarrassment of this poor girl. The whole plane smelled really funky.
To my surprise, China Airlines ungraded me to first class for the leg from Taipei to Los Angeles (~13 hours) all because I made myself a part of the solution and not the problem.
