The Kumbhalgarh region, renowned for its majestic fort and rich history, is set to become the next tiger reserve, adding a new chapter to its legacy. This expansion is part of a significant development for wildlife conservation and tourism in Rajasthan. The inclusion of forest areas from Udaipur district into the Kumbhalgarh Tiger Reserve marks the anticipated arrival of tigers in the area, offering nature enthusiasts and tourists a unique opportunity to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Expansion Details: The expansion will incorporate seven sections of the Bhanpura Range Area, which is 2100 hectares of forest land, into the tiger reserve. This area is part of the larger Sayra Range Area, covering 13,218 hectares.

Tourism and Conservation: The Sayra Range Area’s proximity to popular attractions like Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort is expected to boost tourism. Plans for adventure activities within the upcoming Luv Kush Vatika in Sayra, just 3 kilometers away from Bhanpura, are also in the works.

Wildlife Corridors: The forest areas adjoining Gogunda and Sayra Range, adjacent to the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary, serve as crucial wildlife corridors. These corridors are essential for facilitating the movement of various wildlife, including the potential migration of tigers into these regions.

Existing Sanctuaries and Safari Opportunities: Udaipur district already boasts three wildlife sanctuaries: Sajjangarh, Jaisamand, and Phulwari ki Naal. With plans to introduce tiger safaris in the Sajjangarh Sanctuary, visitors will soon have the chance to observe tigers in the wild for the first time in the Sayra Range.
