About 91k New Yorkers moved to Florida during Covid. Desantis won in 2018 by less than 40k votes, yet he won reelection in 2022 by more than 1.5 million votes (this doesn't even include the hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans who moved to Florida since Latinos "lean democrat". Same thing happened in Florida: massive California exodus with no change in Texas results.
Saying that people from Blue States are leaving will result in changes in their new homes is irrelevant if you don't bother with examining WHO is leaving these states.

Most of those leaving these Blue metros lean right. Thus far, no major leftwards shifts have occurred in the destination states. The problem occurs further down the line. As per NC, what happens is the transplants are used to a much larger state civil service, and they begin to vote for the expansion of their new home state's civil services. It starts with innocent projects like more school funding and infrastructure, but this snowballs over the decades. The transplants want the best of both worlds, but end up creating the bureaucratic hell they or their parents escaped. This seed will take decades to germinate and then bear fruit, so not an immediate worry.

This doesn't take into account that the majority of these people migrating to other states are migrating to places that mirror their politics. Red Californians are going to Texas and Idaho, not Blue ones. Blue Californians go to Oregon and Washington and Colorado. The reason Texas is turning blue is bc of all of the Mexican immigration to the state.

Actually the Political Migration is that Americans are leaving Blue Counties and moving to Red Counties and making them even more Red. Californians are moving to Texas, Tennessee, Florida and N.Carolina but leaving their Politics in California, Oregon, Washington and Illinois.

Not all the people leaving blue states are blue voters. I’m stuck in a blue state for the time being but am a red voter. Eventually, I do plan on getting out of here for somewhere better but wherever I go, I won’t be one of the people making that state more blue.

My family has lived in around asheville for a couple hundred years and now so many outsiders are moving here i feel like a stranger in my own town. All the people are yankees or limp wristed types from somewhere else. None of them have guns though, and they couldn't fight their way out a wet paper bag. I think if the economy was to fail really bad, they would leave cause they have no skin in the game.

Oklahoma also complaints about people from California moving this way. Problem is all of our politicians are conservative so we can only blame ourselves for our states problems, even though we find a way to blame the Californians and the Democrats.
