this doesn’t look off balance shot, this is merely a textbook overhead smash without hold, and with recovery footwork. Off balance means you have no shot or very limited options or accuracy window. Doing this quality smash means you were in control.

No. There’s is nothing off balance with that shot. He did a perfect spin and the shuttle fell near the net, therefore expected a high lift. It’s just his pose that makes you think he’s off balance but he wasn’t.

Any smash injects pace into the rally by increasing shuttle speed even though SYQ is off balance. Changing pace can mean either increasing shuttle speed or decreasing shuttle speed. It could also mean changing the pace of footwork. But he just has slow footwork here.
