The architect Sir Gilbert Scott, who had never visited India, designed the glorious buildings within the Mumbai University Fort Complex, from his office in the United Kingdom. The Complex comprises the Rajabai Clock Tower, funded by Premchand Roychand, named in memory of his mother Rajabai. At the base of it is a Library, housing rare books and manuscripts. The Convocation Hall in the Complex built with a donation from Sir Cowasji Jehangir, is in the 13" century French style.
