I tasted these as a kid and spit it out. Grandma told me not too but im me lol. Tasted kinda like a cherry tomato less acidic little sweet seed bitterish. Not dead lol idk whats in those. Lucky.

Had these growing in the yard as a kid. I wanted to eat them so bad. Though I tasted them. Best I can remember is they taste like bitter tomatoes.

I feel like this is a bit of an overstatement on how dangerous they are.
They are mildly poisonous. If you ate a handful you would probably end up on the toilet for a while (as they cause stomach irritation and diarrea), but they aren't going to kill you unless you eat a huge amount.
I appreciate the focus on safety for foraging, but scaring people by exaggerating the deadliness of things is just going to scare people away from the hobby.
