Why Earth Might Be the Only Planet for Intelligent Life

In this video, Brian Cox explores a possible answer to the Fermi Paradox — why we haven't found intelligent life in the universe. He explains how Earth's unique stability over 4 billion years, with no catastrophic impacts to disrupt the chain of life, might be the reason life evolved from simple cells to civilizations. While there may be billions of planets with liquid water and oceans that could support life, perhaps none of them have had stable conditions long enough for intelligent life to develop.

Could Earth be the only planet in the Milky Way galaxy where intelligent life exists? Or are we missing something in our search for alien civilizations? Watch as Brian Cox dives deep into this fascinating cosmic question.

THANK YOU FOR INFO!

I could just as easily assume a comparable civilization to our own arising on the opposite side of the galaxy. There wouldn't have been enough time for information from either side to travel that far. So they could be sitting there wondering where we are.

How did or do they calibrate these distances? I guess they give and take?

Like Brian Cox said, a civilization that old should have their presence all over the universe..but they don't. Why is the universe so big, what's the point if complex life is so rare'

Isn't possible there are civilizations out there and we just don't know about them bc we aren't that good at knowing certain things? It was not that long ago when we discovered a new moon orbiting Uranus...in 2023.

Exactly- where are they - it seems likely that there no civilisations significantly more advanced than ours in this galaxy.

Theoretically

Then we could be part of that colonisation effort. They are just waiting for use to decode the messages left for us so we can call home

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to see it fall, will that mean, the tree never existed?"
You'll see what you want to see, obvious will always remain invisible.

Bullshit
They didn’t have any idea or evidence of being another intelligent life but they keep on talking so the funding didn’t stop 😂
