Those PA prism optics are no joke. I replaced my TA33 acog with one of their 3x ones. Wider FOV, better reticle, smaller, easier illumination control and lack of illumination problems.
For those who havent spent much time behind a acog, they are amazing, however if you are in shaded area or room aiming into a dark area like a window for example the fiber optic bar has no light to really gather so you are left with just the etched black reticle. Well a black reticle sucks when trying to aim into a black/dark area. With the PA thats no problem, you can just throw on the illumination to whatever brightness you need and handle business. They have great battery life as well even though you generally dont need it except for low/no light or the described situation above.

I do something a bit different. I have a HIGH mount that took me months to find. It's a rare picatinny side rail mount (made in Belarus) that allows me to see under it and use my iron sights for close range targets. Then when I need to see something farther, I use the 4x optic I have mounted on it. This gives me the best of both worlds.

Red dots don’t do it for me anymore with my astigmatism. I put an lpvo on my AK, 1-6 power with occular focus and it’s fantastic. On 1 I have great field of view, and at 6 I can see 200 meters no problem. The occular focus is great because I can sharpen my picture at any distance. I like the 1-6 better than just a 3x. On 1 it gives me clear view with no magnification. If you have astigmatism, try a lpvo it’ll change everything for the better

Switched to a 4x scope on my 2 hog hunting rifles, mostly hunting in the swamp where they are fairly close. Last one I got was at 50 yards, clean headshot after running 100 yards and free standing, out of breath. I choose a fixed power optic over a red dot any day, maybe a red dot and magnifier work well but I haven't tried it. Too heavy...
