We agree with your comment about getting a dog because of its look. Too many people are getting Siberian Huskies because of that and ruthless breeders are taking advantage of it. Your mission to keep all dogs out of the shelters and off the euthanasia table resonates with us. Last year we took in a 6 month old Siberian Husky who was abandoned in our subdivision in Houston, Texas. We did a DNA test (Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed and German Shepherd) to find out what breeds we are dealing with. We are working hard to give him the best life possible and are very proud of the progress we are making. We are learning a lot watching yours as well as Tom Davis’s videos every night. Thank you very much and please keep them coming.

Double coated breeds are insulated. My parents have had huskies for decades in Western Australia, which is on the hotter end of things.
As long as they have shade, and water, and you have common sense, they'll be fine. Sudden temperure shifts can be a problem. Usually though, Worst case is they'll dig up your garden for some cool holes to lie in, if you don't keep them inside during the hot weather.
Definitely difficult dogs, but also really charming. Need a lot of attention, prone to separation anxiety, need lots of exercise. Personally love their character and expressiveness though.

I have a friend in the depths of Canada where dog sled racing is a thing. He was recently complaining that the mutt he picked up has more husky than he'd like (visibly doesn't appear to have any) because she keeps being a lil sasspot. Husky type breeds are like boarder collies to me I ain't going to keep one unless I live a lifestyle that I can keep up with it

I rescued a 1 1/2 year old husky/malamute mix. She came with 0 obedience training. Less than 3 months later she is able to heel for 15 mins at a time and come with me anywhere(including home depot). She requires daily walks and 5-10mins of positive obedience training. Independence is real, but not impossible to overcome. Thoughts?

The first thing to remember when you have a husky: you can't train them, but you can learn how to comunicate with them. I would never use a word "train" with a husky.
They are special. Althought my absolutely best dog was a rescue mix of american stafford bully, I somehow fell in love with huskies, having a rescue stereotypical red siberian at home with all typical husky issues you can imagine, and yet, I am convinced my next rescue will be a husky as well.

Agree with how Husky tries to establish its dominance every day, deliberately dissobedient and will to the opposite of what they are told.
Our husky will go out a lay in the sun on hot days, he will come inside and sit in front if the heater when it is cold. He seems perfectly adapted to a warm climate.

Met the most well trained Siberian Husky last night and I was shocked. He was an absolute sweetheart. Listened from a distance to his owner while chasing my smaller collie mix to “Be Gentle!” Backed off whenever instructed to do so, even in full focused chase mode.
Meant my little hyper pupper got some SOLID play time with a dog who could more than handle his energy!
Probably helped the owner had a smaller more stubborn senior dog who acted as a steadying presence. Showed me a clip of them being tethered together, the smaller dog walking the husky! 😂
