I was super depressed after my grandmother died and I went to go see the Truman show thinking it was a comedy.

This reminds me of the time my two very stereotypical older brothers went to see Precious together as a joke. They came back teary eyed telling me that it moved them very much and there was nothing funny about that movie at all, I swear this happened. I love unexpected character development.

the movie hit home for me in a lot of ways. absent father, my mother has CHF, battling spirituality, the fear, but acceptance of death, it was beautiful. had me dying the whole time

I'm very glad that Planet of the Bass led to me seeing something new from Kyle Gordon literally every day at this point.

This reminds me of watching the movie Mask as a kid. Not the one with Jim Carey. The one with Cher.

“He always plays light-hearted comedy roles, and this should be no exception.”
I haven’t even seen The Whale and yet could practically taste the sarcasm with that one.

Yeah one of the most depressing movies I’ve seen but also relatable in a way I’ve been in some pretty dark spots of my life but it was good just not something I’d wanna see again lol

I had my “whoa Brendan Fraser in a darker role is weird” moment in the early 2000s. Journey to the End of the Night. Him and Mos Def and Scott Glenn. It’s a crime drama set in São Paulo, Glenn is Fraser’s American father who runs a brothel, a bag full of mob money is being transported by Mos Def, it gets stolen, and then every character ends up stealing the money back and forth from each other all night long across the entire city. All of them have plans for the money to run away. It’s a great movie. Definitely not a lighthearted comedy by any means lol. “Brendan Fraser plays the son of a brothel owner in São Paula” is a weird sentence.
