(1) RE: curcumin—Ever since I started adding turmeric to my daily cooking, inflamation…has stopped. (2) Only one probiotic formulation worked for me, but boy did it work, within 1-2 days providing relief after many years of diarrhea distress. So, I just have questions about several of your ‘absolutely useless’ statements. Scientists claiming absolutes, well doctor, you know that’s questionable since there remain many things not yet fully studied.🌺

That Cochrane review did show some effect of vitamin c supplementation when it comes to duration of symptoms for example.
Quote:
"However, regular supplementation had a modest but consistent effect in reducing the duration of common cold symptoms, which is based on 31 study comparisons with 9745 common cold episodes. In five trials with 598 participants exposed to short periods of extreme physical stress (including marathon runners and skiers) vitamin C halved the common cold risk. The published trials have not reported adverse effects of vitamin C."

Wrong. Those studies that show no benefit were done with relatively low doses. Linus Pauling (Nobel Prize in Chemistry) showed compelling studies with Megadoses having positive results for helping colds, flu and cancer.

so if Vitamin C useless then why do you include it in your own brand of Multivitamins that you sell? can you explain ?

With that logic, don't take any supplement that has anti-oxydant properties because it will blunt your effort. That doesn't make sense. Also there must be different recommendation between taking it now and then and all the time.

The body’s requirements for vit c varies significantly due to various factors including health, age, current stress levels and lifestyle factors. Being that due to a genetic variation we are one of only a few mammals that cannot produce it naturally. It’s essential that we obtain it either through food or supplementation and generally speaking the RDA is significantly low essentially preventing severe deficiency. Vit C is crucial in wound healing, collagen production, immune function, neurotransmitter production and many other factors.
A thorough examination of the literature from multiple perspectives could provide a much different perspective. Vit C is very well tolerated and essentially fairly harmless even in divided doses of 10g per day not to mention relatively inexpensive. 100mg would provide benefit but not therapeutic results IMO especially if injury, chronic disease or health issues are involved.

What about taking Vit C with Collagen to improve its absorption? Also, I can assure you that (good) probiotics are not a waste if you have digestion problems like constipation. For me it makes a huge improvement when I take probiotics

Would this be true even for much older people who have a much higher oxidative stress level?

Doesn't NAC lead to antioxidants in your body?

I can tell you that they aren't a waste for me. I break out in pustules when I eat hot peppers. This since I was about 14 yrs old. I'm now 47. I started Vit C as a natural antihistamine. I am sure I get the RDA ftom my diet as I have fruits everyday. However, whenever I take vit C (1000 to 3000mg) within a short time of eating something with hot peppers, I don't break out. I used to use Piriton but stopped because of the potential long term effects. I've also found that despite the semantics around infection, it will not create a force field keeping out pathogens but taken within the first display of symptoms, it will shorten the duration and severity of the infection.

So, just because it does not work for the limited items you listed, does not mean it is not useful.

Yeah. Have a couple cigarettes before your workouts, because smoking will raise oxidative stress and boost muscle growth. Next best thing to roids, uh?

Dr David Perlmutter suggest Vitamin C aids in the removing Uric acid from the body, is there anything to back this up and would a supplement be needed in this instance?

Vitamin c from natural sources from a food quality like Amla or Acerola berries have many health benefits.

PS. I think you really need to go back to school and study every single vitamin supplement that is produced and manufactured and the studies on them… Then make your little video, because in some of them, you sound very uninformed…
