It would be better if you switched ON the ignition and the headlamps - disconnect the positive terminal as well - touched the Positive & Negative (car terminals together) to get rid of any spikes in the electrical system as well as resetting the Engine Management System as you did.

Die Lampe zeigt an dass etwas an der Abgasregelanlage gestört ist. Batterie ab klemmen löscht nur den Speicher, repariert aber nicht das Auto. Die gelbe Lampe geht nach einer Zeit wieder an. Außerdem leuchtet sie immer solange nur die Zündung angeschaltet ist und der Motor nicht läuft.

The engine light is a warning that something needs repair or replacement. By disconnecting the battery, you are just erasing the memory of the computer but the engine light warning will come back on after driving the vehicle at a certain distance. Also the smog centers will not do a test without all the computer memory set in place and will not do a smog test with the light on as well. Disconnecting the battery and the engine light is ignoring the problem as it might get bigger.
