French Revolutionary war powder. Cannon powder was all they made and they used it in everything. 11bangbang has a video about it coming out some time.

I just finished resurrecting an 1809/39 Potsdam musket. They sounds like just about the right load for it.
All I need now is the correct size musket balls.

Seems to be as "fast" ignition wise as anything else. Will be very interested in seeing some numbers in comparison to your other powders

Absolutely no reason NOT to use 1F for priming - but one small caveat. Occasionally, (repeat occasionally), 1F priming powder will show a slight hangfire compared to other granulations. Does it work? Absolutely.
The reason for the "4F pan priming" comes from target shooters. It's a bit more consistent than other grades, and target shooters will ALWAYS opt for even minimal improvements to achieve a better score. This is true now, and was true "way back when." HOWEVER, for the majority of us who are interested in functionality, powder granulation for the pan is largely irrelevant.

That’s cool! I have got to learn how to make my own black powder. I have a bowling ball cannon and use 1/4 pound of goex Bp. It’s too expensive but it will shoot a 16 pound bowling ball 1/2 mile and further!

Pretty fast ignition use to seeing a good second of burning before the shot.

You can't prime with 1F. I heard from an internet source that if you prime with 1f it's going to look like the scene from Davy Crockett and the river pirates where you have a slow burning match effect that lasts 10 minutes before the gun goes off😂😂

What firearm is comparable recoil wise to your black powder rifle?

I have used Iowa flints. They work but do not last as long as English or French.

What was the velocity? And was there any different in the way each of them shot?

Hey Jake! Have you ever tried using anything other than imported flints? There's a lot of varieties of chert here in Missouri and they spark on high carbon steel but I just don't know if they're good enough for a flintlock as I don't own one yet

Two questions, do you know anyone with a huge hydraulic press? Like the Finnish guy? What would happen if you corn the powder at 300tons?
