health insurance is $800 a month for my wife and I at 58 years old.
that out lay means I must still pay $16,000 before one penny is paid by
insurance. we don't have the $16,000 so we are screwed.
yes I have been denied health care locally.
so I became my own doctor. So far so good, and if I die, no one will miss a poor man.

my man is a prison guard. do you know the care these criminals get?! the govt pays for them to get their teeth fixed, ny surgeries/treatments they need and free college education. he is taking an inmate to the hospital to get transplants and surgeries almost every other day.
so i have to rob a bank to get a dentist i guess.

I went to England this past March. My gf's friend who lives there told a story about her friend whose uncle went into an NHS clinic complaining of pains in his side. He was in his late 70s. The Drs gave him pain medication and sent him home. Two weeks later he died of kidney failure. That's rationing. They treat the pain instead of the problem. And old people are notoriously neglected because when you ration, you can't waste precious resources on people who will die soon anyway.

As a teenager my life was saved by the skilled physicians nurses, and respiratory therapists at Sutter Hospital. I was a visitor to California when I went into a severe asthma attack. I'll always be grateful to the staff at Sutter Hospital in California. There was a charge to my travel insurance, however care provided was exceptional and much better than I've received in Canada. I'm not a wealthy person and would have fund-raised if necessary to pay the bill.

Oh the wonderful NIH. My nephew needed a tonsillectomy, was missing several weeks of school and was told by the NIH doctor that he could get the operation in two years. Fortunately, his parents who realize that the must also have additional private insurance were able to get the surgery done that week.

In 1994 three members of my extended family were in a serious car accident and badly injured. Not only did they not have health insurence, they didn't have car insurance, yet they still received the care they needed.

I believe their combined costs were something like $500K. I think they paid very little of it. We DO take care of people in the US. We don't need socialized medicine.

We have private health care... People want reform of our PRIVATE health care. We don't want a pseudo socialist health care plan. Thank you.

Reform does not mean we pay for government health care.

ADDENDUM FOR TSHOROCK:
Anyway, your doctor can simply write that your increased blood pressure is due to the earache (but still treat the elevated blood pressure, get your own home BP cuff, have the doctor put a parameter on the script like 'hold for BP systolic less than 110'.

That is addressed by the film and included in the 8 million that truly do not have coverage.

Thank you for the help. I just found out that the 5,000 is not from one ER Visit I had another visit to that hopital a while back. I hope they do dismiss the case. I have no way to abosorb that amount right now. And I damn sure don't want to go jail. Either way, I have bad credit now because of the collection agency. I'll look into your info. Thanks again.

Health insurance is not the job of the government. The government's job is to protect an environment where we are all free to pursue happiness. It's job is not to give us anything at all, but to ensure we are protected from what we acquire from our own labor is not taken from us.

It sounds like the system dropped the ball on pursuing here. She should pay and should have penalties such as a ding to credit.

Also the real question is not why 45 milion are uninsured but why are healthcare costs sky rocketing. From 2000 to 2004 premium have increased by61%.

The filmmaker addresses that there are some people who are truly insured. He's not saying that our system is perfect.

And just because some people can't pay their bills doesn't justify government controlling all of health care and making it worse for everyone. There are other ways of helping people out than through the private sector. (Charity, churches, community fund-raisers, family & friends, etc.)

I've had the pleasure of living in Canada, France and Japan which all enjoy national health care systems. I can state from personal experience that national health care is far more efficient and provides a higher level of care than what exists in the for profit US system. In fact, health care costs are a primary reason why I established my business abroad. Moving my business to the US and providing health care for my employees would be far too expensive.
