In this video, we show an example of a five-set Venn Diagram by highlighting all 32 possible regions.

Here is a longer, wordless video, showing the same thing along with four set Venn diagrams as well :    • Four Set Venn Diagram and Five Set Ve...

With only ellpises, you can't go beyond 5, but you can easily go arbitrary high when allowing for any confex shape.

And guess what, the numbers 1, 5, 10, 10, 5, 1 are the numbers in Pascal's triangle.

1 5 10 10 5 1 is the fifth horizontal line in the Palcal triangle. Altogether 32 sets, which is 2**5.

Beautuful.

it’s always been a nice challenge in my classes to have students find a way to draw these diagrams with three or more sets and of course we get all kinds of crazy and creative shapes but this one with only ellipses is so nice! Thanks!

That's such a mean question at the end dude, the odd and even diagrams are quite different imo

Good proof of nC0 + nC1 + nC2 + …. + nCn = 2^n

1 5 10 10 5 1 is a part of pascals triangle

Wow Ive never seen this one. My teachers always said that with 4 or more sets the venn diagram becomes too hard to draw so we just won’t bother with them anymore at that point.

Binomial coefficient, 5th line of Pascals triangle, 32 regions =2⁵, with six sets it would have 2⁶ regions.

The numbers in series 1,5,10,10,5,1 derive from the coefficients binomial expansion of power 5,

So the 5th row of pascals triangle is:
1 5 10 10 5 1 which sums 2^5

Which generalises for the n'th row and 2^n.

You just solved my problem I was working on thank you. Do you have one for 11 million.

Idk I find it proof for number of subsets=2^n I mean in this there are five circle which represent 5 set and common region is 32 that is 2^5.. correct me if I’m wrong 😊

Yo I give up on maths

@Auroraen

somehow i feel like it would be more convenient to just draw five fourth dimensional circles

the maximum is 32 by 5 sets
