Is every guitar player and teacher on YouTube REALLY playing? Or are fake guitar demonstrations creating unrealistic expectations for too many budding guitarists, pitting them against impossible comparisons? Especially when it comes to teaching, I think it's vital to maintain an honest relationship with students, no matter if they are sitting in the room with you, or on the other side of the screen. This also helps filter the ones who can actually play and teach from the ones who cannot demonstrate the very things they are purporting to be showing you. I make my humble contribution to this by always recording the guitar from the same microphone I speak into. It might not be the best sound possible (and I have been criticised for it), but it makes it impossible to fake it (or if not impossible, more laborious than actually learning how to play!). So keep it real out there!
