The Narrows might be the most famous slot canyon in the world. It is truly remarkable and one of my favorite hikes of all time.
Some useful info for the Narrows:
the park closes the Narrows when water-flow exceeds certain thresholds. This happens during spring snow melt and occasional storms throughout the year.
You can rent waterproof suits, boots, and hiking sticks at the park.
Trekking poles or hiking sticks are crucial to navigate the slippery terrain.
I think the best time to hike the Narrows is fall and winter when the crowds are smaller and the current is weaker.
Summer crowds are huge in the Narrows. Try to be on the first bus in the morning to beat the crowds.
No permit is needed to day-hike the Narrows from the bottom up. If you want to through hike the canyon from the top down, you do need an overnight permit from the Park.
