It’s been said so many times that we don’t always take this advice to heart, but the truth is that “It takes a village to raise a child”.

Pregnancy and parenthood can feel isolating. So finding friends who are experiencing this same life change can help ease the feelings of loneliness, overwhelm and anxiety. Part of my original vision in creating the Prenatal Yoga Center was to offer a space that engaged students and opened a place for friendships to develop and flourish. (I am beyond tickled that some of my first students are still friends 20 years later)!!

To help support the growth of our community, we structure the beginning of every class with “circle time”. This is an opportunity for students to introduce themselves, say how many weeks they are, and if they have anything they want to work on or share. For years, I’ve witnessed friendships emerge from the common experience of pregnancy and postpartum, and deepen as the students return week after week for class.
