I have around 35 homing pigeons and Lucky was one of the fledgings who just left to go out on her own. a couple weeks ago I went outside and saw 2 massive vultures outside and they were circling her in the road, and yes vultures do sometimes hunt small animals. They already got her multiple times and she couldn't fly, she was waiting to be finished off 💔 I ran into the road and swooped her up. She was extremely scared and traumatized but she let me help her. I honestly didn't think she was going to make it and didn't leave my house the first 3 days I had her, I was worried sick. She had 2 big holes cut into her crop and when she would eat or drink, seeds and water would come out of the holes. I took her to the vet but many vets are clueless about pigeons, she gave me antibiotics and cleaned her wounds. She got dehydrated and skinny, lost a lot of her muscle from not flying for 2 1/2 weeks. The crop holes closed and then I started using Manuka honey on her larger wound, that stuff is MAGIC. It closed the last hole quickly and today I will release her back to her loft and her parents and sibling. I named her Lucky

🥺 So CUTE!!!! I had to stop putting food out for the pigeons and birds and squirrels (it's okay because our entire neighborhood feeds them. 🥰) I still have the 3 pigeons that come by. Miss Judy, Miss Grace, and Prince. 🤣 They all picked their names. Prince hated all his names until my sister suggested "Prince." Pigeons are a lot smarter than we give credit. 🕊🥰🤟🏻 Thank you for rehabilitating these precious angels.
