If you have a very active child and are looking for an idea to help her/him slow down… yoga for kids is perfect!
It’s a great transitioning activity, helps kids slowly calm down, improves balance, reduces anxiety…
Here is how we do it:
✅ I invite her: “time to breath, do you want to do yoga?” (this so fun so she usually shouts “yes!”)
✅ Every movement is an animal, so is easy to remember. You can use these animals or create your own movements.
✅ If your child is interested in other topic you can create names with that: maybe cars yoga, and name every pose as a different car.
✅ It’s not a long session, you can start with 3 minutes and add more time if they want to continue. (The older your child, the more time you can add)
✅ You can play relaxing music as a background
✅ During the exercise you can count slowly to 10 , say the abcs, sing a song or take deep breaths.
✅ Let them guide you, instead of them following your, let them decide what movement is next and what is the name of it!
✅ Take it outside if you can!
Did you know that some studios offer classes for babies as young as 6 week old?? I didn’t, I wish I started sooner 😅
