That's a clear case that the driver read the sign or the truck would be on the other side of the highway, my guess is just couldn't judge distance and thought it was 1000 feet or thought his truck and trailer overall length was around 30 foot then again for all I know it could have happened at night and fatigue played a little part of deciding to go 4 or actually 8 wheeling if the power divider is locked in, a company I drove for in the 1990's an owner operator went to a bar in the town and got lost going back to where he was picking up in the morning and he had the sense to drop his empty trailer and just drove his truck into the Ashtabula Ohio Township pond in the middle of town from what we heard, sadly he had full tanks of fuel and then there was the issue of 10 gallons of motor oil companies insurance got a hell of a cleanup bill on top of ALL the fines for pollution and killing the fish and other aquatic life and turtles you name it our whole company was banned from Ashtabula Ohio for a while we had to service the customer with rental Ryder thucks until it all settled down, the shit you see in 30 years of driving LoL
