Mui Thai is probably a better choice since you strike with multiple different limbs and allows you to control distance and you can also use the clinch. Or like judo to just keep throwing them until they realize they cant even touch you.

After years of studying multiple arts, i have to agree. Bjj is absolutely the most comprehensive answer. And its also legal. Take boxing, for instance: it's hard to explain why you knocked out a guy with a punch vs. why you held him down until help arrived.

If you are going to go with a grappling art do wrestling or judo since they start standing and have distance management. BJJ is guard pulling so not that useful. And as usual: mix it with some kind of striking.

There's a lot of video where boxers defend themselves against multiple attackers in real life situations recorded by phone or security cameras. They didn't have a gun or a knife. The fact that you can't do a thing it doesn't mean that nobody can do it.

If you only have time in your life for 1 art. Then its Jiu jitsu.
Its grappling.
Grappling beats boxing.
Only grappling beats graplling.
So you cover most of the street scenarios with bjj.

Man thereās a lot of BJJ haters in here lol. As long as youāre not fighting like youāre in a competition setting youāll be fine. Obviously you shouldnāt pull guard on concrete or but scoot towards an attacker. My BJJ gym practices stand up grappling as well, which I would hope the majority of other gyms do too. If someone attacks me Iām taking them down and taking top control, not diving to my back or but scooting towards them so I can get soccer kicked in the face. If thereās multiple attackers, then Iām running šš There is no martial art that is built for that scenario. If youāre a striker, you get taken down and stomped while you struggle to get back up. If youāre a grappler, you get battered on the feet or stomped on after taking someone dow

i do BJJ and would never use it in a 2 on 1 situation. Makes no sense. A 1 on 1? Use whatever you're more comfortable with.
