Parsnips and potatoes both make a ton of money so that you can buy strawberries, which are the biggest profit-making crop in the game. And you need both vegetables for the spring crops bundle. You can acquire a seed maker from the recipe you get at level 9 farming or the one you get as a reward for completing the dye bundle.

Parsnip seeds are the best early game because they grow so fast. Until you get to the point that you don’t have the energy to water more crops there the best. Early game your looking at an exponential growth model, so short grow times are exponentially more important then the money per harvest, until you run up against a constraint like energy or farm space.

You buy parsnips with your first harvest for food and bundles, potatos with your second for money which you use to buy strawberries on the 13th which you'll grow until summer, in summer you have 2 options depending on how strong a spring you had. You can either: commit to blueberries which are a slow growing but very profitable crop or melons which aren't as profitable as blueberries but can provide the short term capital required for finishing the vault room in the community centre which unlocks the desert where you can but starfruit which is a top 2 crop in the game. Going into autumn cranberries are your best option unless you have enough kegs set up to process a full pumpkin harvest in which case pumpkin juice is your best option. As for winter if you don't have the greenhouse unlocked investing in animals (goats and pigs for money, ducks and rabbits for quests and friendship) is a good idea, if you do however have the greenhouse unlocked it's a good idea to begin filling it with either ancient fruit, starfruit or both. Ancient fruit is better for long term profit while starfruit is more immediate and less work.

Buy other crops as neccessary for bundles but following this guide will net you enough money to afford numerous large purchases you'll make in the 2nd year.

OMG once you play stardew you’ll never stop. Stardew is my heart and soul fucking love that game. I would give you tips but I am 100% positive you won’t see my comment- but I will say. BUY STRAWBERRIES. They’re available at Pierre’s stand at the egg festival. Best crop for spring.

Either plant regrowing crops (beans , strawberries) or get a seed maker. Are the answers to your problems.

That’s because potatoes don’t have seeds! They use something called seed potatoes (that have no seeds) and use them to grow more potatoes.
To grow potatoes irl, wait for the potatoes to start to sprout then cut them into 4s then plant them cut side down and boom more potatoes in a few months.
