Those are meant for temporary repairs to get to a mechanic who can uncounted and put a proper patch from inside

You should coat those in rubber cement before putting them in so that way they stay sealed, without the rubber cement its about a 50/50 shot

I have to give you a thumbs up for the drilling the hole bigger thing, I’ve been doing tire repairs for a while, own a drill and all the bits, never did I once put those 2 together though, I learned something

I always coat the plug in rubber cement, and after insertion i like to light it on fire to ensure a good seal. A repair like that lasts the life of the tire for me
