Only SOME kinds of mushroom "work" - Lion's Mane, shitake, maybe reishi - all should be ORGANIC as well. You need to watch out for oxalates - there are mushrooms that have INSOLUBLE oxalates - that is better than soluble ones and relatively much safer. Mushrooms need to be bolied and the water has to be thrown out.
